God is Happiness
Exploring the meaning of God and happiness in life and spirituality
The word "God" may appear boring, old fashioned and uncool. We tend to associate it with churches and old style religion. The word God does not tend to get people excited and make them happy. These associations we make with the word "God" often become obsolete when we think of our own happiness and interests in life.
We ALL are searching for happiness. Why would anybody want to be unhappy? If we deny it or not, everybody wants to have unlimited happiness, success and fulfilment. The trouble is, we often do not know what happiness truly is and how to be happy.
Most of us are lost in life and caught up in numerous problems and illusions, because we have forgotten what happiness is. My deep, joyful and unfolding experience is that, God is happiness. As we begin to find the TRUE meaning of the words "God" and "Love" we begin to discover and explore what happiness means, and what happiness is like to experience. To me God is another word for happiness. Happiness is not boring and dull, otherwise it would not make us happy.
Happiness is often defined as states of mind, emotion and feeling characterized by contentment, love, satisfaction, pleasure, and joy. We know that God is infinite. Therefore contentment is infinite. Love is infinite. Satisfaction is infinite. Pleasure is infinite. And Joy is infinite. We also know that God is truth, and that God is independent of duality, which means that God is a happiness which has no opposites. Unhappiness does not exist in the face of God's happiness. Unhappiness here on earth is an illusion. Whenever there is darkness of illusion though we can turn on the light and illusion disappears.
I recently experienced a certain nothingness and dissolving of ego, but then perceived God's light everywhere. Even in the face of darkness I realised God is free and happy. I realised this pure happiness, a pervading gentle joyful but subtle light, just loves and accepts all. Even his own love makes him happy. His own joyful existence is enough, as well as everything else. He can see his love everywhere and find joy in everything and everybody, as an infinite pleasure and happiness.
The nature of this light is that it will settle for nothing other than being completely free and happy, which is an example and standard that we should aspire to and learn from. Just like light has many colors as a rainbow- God's light can be experienced in infinite frequencies and waves of happiness, satisfaction, bliss, pleasure, and joy- infinitely and eternally.
Unhappiness is an illusion. This world is an illusion. For example asceticism can involve withdrawing from the world of illusion, and may involve sitting in a cave or under a tree mediating. This is like Shiva's character, sitting in the graveyard wearing ash, mediating, not caring, and transcending everything, and experiencing the true peace and bliss.
But asceticism may not work, when we have to be in the world at the same time to earn a living and pay our bills. And it may not feed the poor or take care of the needy. We also forget that it is okay to live a happy and successful life to find God at the same time. Yes, because God is happiness.
An alternative or complimentary spiritual way of life is as follows. Instead of just accepting, withdrawing and becoming indifferent to the world, we can learn to bring God's happiness into the word and into the illusion. To make happiness out of unhappiness. We can operate, control as well as dissolve the illusions and karma of ourselves and/or others. By living in God's light, and being a light for others. You could say this is moving more into the Vishnu/Lakshmi energy. Although God is absolute and beyond any manifestations and names. To be happy in all aspects of life is important, because it is God's true nature to be happy. God is happiness as well as love, because God's love makes happy.
To see, experience and feel the light of God, the true happiness of God- this is only possible through love. Love is only possible through receiving happiness, and making happy at the same time. This light is pure love. We need to bring God's light into all aspects of our life- into our work, our recreation, our relationships, our home, our environment... until we are seeing God everywhere... until life becomes nothing more than a pleasure... an infinite experience of love, colourful love everywhere... freedom is also infinite.
There are fake, temporary and pretence types of happiness, but it would be greater to experience God's happiness and light infinitely and eternally. There is always a way to increase this light and move on in life, even if some illusions make you feel stuck. Even if moving on means to die, it is still moving on. So there is no excuse for not moving on somehow in life and becoming more successful and happy.
There is nothing stopping you from hanging in the illusion a little while longer to get some experience of that, or to work out some karmas. But karma can be changed and dissolved, by changing your environment and situation. Even just small or large steps forward can make you feel happy, as you become closer to God with each step. Or even if we fail and have setbacks, we can still carry on moving forward. God's love will always be there for us. It is sometimes necessary to experience the illusions and difficulties in their entirety to be able to know the remedies of darkness and problems.
Sometimes we can feel blocked in relationships and situations, where there is no flowing love. Once we have learned from this, we can make a mutual decision to change. Or we can be happy to depart from the old and move on in life- to people and places where we can give, receive and experience more of this light and love.
It is posisble to feel powerless to change a certain situation immediately. But we still have the power to just love in the present moment to solve all problems and to learn the best solutions. We can learn something eternally from every experience. It can be our karma to experience certain difficult scenarios to help unblock the flow of love in our life. But the desire for happiness will cause a positive change to bring us closer to God and happiness.
The more we heal our life and move forward in God's light and love, the more healing benefits others may receive, and the more the world changes for the better. True love always creates inner and outer happiness. To know, that God is happiness, is enough to heal your life. And only with God and Love, in our minds and hearts can our search for happiness be successful. People do not know what the word God means. We know however that God is love, and happiness. We also allow happiness to fully flow into all aspects of our life and consciousness, to make us and everybody else happy, just like God.
